Bob Dylan: News

Bob Dylan is an American singer-songwriter, visual artist, and author born on May 24, 1941. Following the release of his eponymous debut album 'Bob Dylan' in 1962, which primarily included traditional folk songs, he made his breakthrough as a songwriter with 'The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan'. The majority of his songs features the tunes and phraseology of more traditional folk songs. Then, he released the politically charged album 'The Times They Are a-Changin' and his lyrically abstract and introspective fourth album 'Another Side of Bob Dylan' in 1964. During this period, his song lyrics included a range of political, social, literary, philosophical influences, breaking pop music conventions and attracting the burgeoning counterculture. Considered one of the greatest songwriters of all time, Dylan has won numerous awards and accolades, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, a Golden Globe Award, 10 Grammy Awards, and an Academy Award, among others. He has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. He was awarded a special citation for "his profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power" by the Pulitzer Prize Board in 2008.
